My guess is it's like anything you want to improve. Have to be pro-active about it. Want to gain muscle? Need an active plan in the gym, maybe a trainer, be in the gym 3-4x a week.
Have you tried to get proactive about situations? Retroactively, how did I handle it? How long did it take to shift my perspective? Could I do that quicker or view the situation differently next time?
Fortunately, it's human to view the negative first. We all do it!
The question is how do u change your perspective
I find I can look at any event that's happened from a different angle. Usually, it's similar to, "Well, X could have happened."
Two few real examples from recently:
Got stuck in an airport from a canceled flight. "Well, at least we're fortunate enough to buy new tickets and get out of this situation."
House maintenance issues to deal with. "Well, at least we can live in such a beautiful home."
