4 Best Communities for High Net Worth Individuals
Ever tried asking someone “Hey I made $10m and now I have no motivation, what should I do?”
Yeah, that’s not going to reasonate well.
Fortunately, there are online and in-person communities to join where you can comfortably ask these questions.
FATFire
This is a Reddit community where everyone posts anonymously about living a luxurious retirement life.
Technically FATFire stands for Financial Independence, Retire Early, without having to sacrifice your spending. But the group really is wealthy people dealing with wealthy people questions.
Some good posts from FATFire are:
Worth it “upgrades” when building a house. What’s your hot take?
For people with $100M+ NW, how do you manage your money and life?
Long Angle
Long Angle is a free community where folks share questions and thoughts in an online forum. There is a newer monthly meeting called Circles, which is $200/mo, and mimics Tiger 21’s meeting structure.
As of July 2023, it has roughly 1000 members, mainly in the US. That’s quite a bit as the group is newer and started in 2020 by Tad Fallows and Sriram Gollapalli after they sold their tech companies and were looking for a community of like-minded folks to talk with.
They host webinars, dinners, and happy hours with fellow members regularly to meet other folks.
The minimum requirement is “investable assets exceed $2.2 million”.
506 Investor Group
506 Investor Group is the deal junkie group. They have 3,000+ members who post and analyze all types of alternative investments.
Everything from real estate to ATM funds, this group covers it in detail.
I personally use it to see what folks say about certain deals. For example, if a real estate syndicate comes across, you can quickly read how others that have more experience are analyzing it.
Tiger 21
Started by Michael W. Sonnenfeldt in 1999, Tiger 21 is a group of high-net-worth individuals that meet monthly and at their annual get-together.
Tiger 21 is the fancier version of Long Angle, with a $20m net worth minimum and $30,000 annual fee.
After joining you’re paired with similar asset members and a group leader to facilitate discussions each month. Topics that folks like to discuss are investments, health, investment opportunities, taxes, family/children, and travel.
They post an annual asset allocation report of all members you can read here.
