+1 to this! I don’t think you’ll ever regret spending on experiences like this. I like the Bill Perkins idea of “memory dividends”.

What are your thoughts on the value of time? Do you consider your own “hourly rate” when it comes to personal tasks and outsource when it makes sense? This is something I’ve been trying to optimize lately.

When I was actively running a business, saving time on personal/mundane tasks all had to go.

- dog walking

- food prep

- housekeeping

- assistant calling for appointments, booking travel, etc (this was the biggest help for personal and business time savings)

Hormozi has a good list https://x.com/alexhormozi/status/1935753240106213381

But I overdid it, trying to optimize for more work time. For example, I needed dog walks to get out of the house. I should have used that extra time saved for more family time instead of more work time.

There’s a funky balance there. But nowadays, I just get rid of the things I don’t like (landscaping, house cleaning, and pool maintenance). The rest I do as I have more free time and feel lazy if I outsource everything.

Interesting. Kids help me with this. I consider every hour "wasted" on tasks to be an hour taken away from my time with them. So that personal-time optimization goes more to them than it does to work.

Regarding the lazy feeling...Andrew Wilkinson had a funny story where he told his wife he wanted to outsource bringing his trash/recycling bins from his garage to his curb once a week for trash pickup. He said the look his wife gave him made him feel like less of a man and he regretted the idea. :D

Makes sense on the kids! A great forcing function.

Too funny on Andrew’s story 😂
